17일(현지시간) 영국 북부 웨이크필드 인근 마을에서 열린 ‘세계 석탄 나르기 대회’에서 참가자들이 석탄이 담긴 자루를 짊어진 채 경주를 벌이고 있다. 1963년 시작된 이 대회는 매년 부활절 다음 월요일에 열린다. 남자부 경기엔 50kg, 여자부엔 20kg의 자루가 사용되며 참가자들은 1km가 넘는 코스를 이동한 뒤 자루를 마을 중심에 위치한 광장에 내려놓아야 한다. [웨이크필드=APF연합뉴스]
