　얼마전 발생한 인도네시아 특사단 숙소 무단 침입사건에 국정원이 개입된 것으로 알려지면서 파문이 점점 커지고 있습니다. 　무기 수출을 위한 정보활동을 벌이다가 벌어진 일로 보이는데요. 오히려 국정원의 비도덕적인 행태로 국산 무기의 해외 수출에 비상이 걸렸습니다. 　배현정 기자가 영어로 취재했습니다.

　Korea and Indonesia are stuck in an awkward situation over an alleged break-in by South Korean spies, though neither seemed to want a further escalation.

　　 　Local media reported yesterday that three agents belonging to Seoul’s National Intelligence Service were caught last week after trespassing on a hotel room to steal information from an Indonesian presidential delegation.

　The intruders – two men and one woman – were trying to copy computer files to a USB memory stick, but fled as they were caught on the scene.

　The information is presumed to be related to the arms trade which is presently under discussion between the two countries, especially on the T-50 Golden Eagle supersonic trainers jets.

　The government refrained from making any official comments on the issue.

　The T-50 jet is a main military item produced by the Korea Aerospace Industries 　which the Korean government strives to export not only to Indonesia but also to other Asian states and to the Middle East.

　The Southeast Asian state was said to be on the brink of choosing between Korea and Russia as its final training jet provider, when the spying scandal was reported.

　Police officials here are presently raiding investigation on whether the intelligence agency was indeed involved.

　The Indonesian delegation leader, however, suggested that the three were actually hotel guests who ended up in the wrong room and that the file which they accessed to was quite harmless, hinting that the arms deal discussion may still be valid.

　The Indonesian Minister, Hatta Rajasa, told the Jakarta Post yesterday that the laptop only held a PowerPoint slide shows about the general condition of the Indonesian industry.

　While both countries endeavor to make peace, many fear that the suspected spying break-in scandal may drag down a major inter-governmental deal.
