◀앵커멘트▶ 　나날이 증가하는 영어 사교육 부담 속에서 고액의 과외나 학원 대신에 엄마표 홈스쿨링에 눈길을 돌리는 학부모들이 늘고 있습니다. 　배현정 기자가 보도합니다.

　In education-fevered Korea, the cost of private education has been rising steeply over the years, especially in English education for young students. 　According to a recent survey, Korean parents would pay an average cost of 200,000 won on their child’s extracurricular English lessons and most plan are willing to maintain the level, or even invest more.

　Some parents, however, have turned their eyes to a less costly, yet just as effective means of teaching, which is home schooling.

　 　The JC English TV, an exclusive English homeschool channel run by Jungchul Media, enables parents to educate their children in the comfort of their own home at an affordable cost.

　　 　One of its core programs is the “English Star,” which targets at junior primary school students.

　(인터뷰 : Ark Lee / Manager, JC English TV) 　"Jungchul Media kicked off the English TV channel in 2009 to meet the growing demands on English education for young children. 　Especially, the English Star program offers learning chances to junior primary students who do not yet take English as a subject in school."

　◀리포트▶ 　Other study programs are also available through the internet or homeshopping channels.

　“Rosetta World,” a global U.S.-based language program was recently launched in Korea. 　Rosetta is currently used by some 5 million people in 150 countries all over the world, and also by the U.S. Department of State and the NASA. 　The program offers a customized study program for individuals of all ages and enables the user to self-study any one of 29 languages including English.

　 　◀리포트▶ (자막 : Kyobo Bookstore) 　Other independent parents even choose to take the matter in their own hand. 　The English education section in Kyobo bookstore is at all times crowded with enthusiastic parents. 　The section does not only contain English books but also guidebooks for parents who wish to homeschool their child. 　Among them is one compiled by the manager of Jamsune, a popular online community for homeschooling parents.

　Amid the ever-growing private English education, a thoroughly-organized homeschooling rises as a reasonable option.
