New 'Smart Farming Issue Talk' channel launched for easy mobile access

A new information service will give farmers and businesses a single place to track smart farming policies, technologies and industry trends — including through KakaoTalk, where users can easily receive the latest domestic and international updates.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced Wednesday it will regularly publish smart farming trend analysis content covering related policies, technologies and industry developments, and distribute the material through a new KakaoTalk channel called "Smart Farming Issue Talk."

The content will consist of monthly card news and quarterly issue briefs. The card news will present major domestic and international policy, technology, industry trends and field cases in a visually accessible format optimized for mobile devices, while the issue briefs will offer in-depth analysis of smart farming policies and technologies.

The second installment of card news, released Wednesday, covers open-field smart farming development zones, overseas smart farming technology trends and examples of leading domestic companies. The accompanying issue brief focuses on "the spread and use of smart farming data," introducing domestic agricultural data policy alongside the EU's Common European Agricultural Data Space as a case study.

The ministry plans to expand coverage of high-demand technology areas such as AI and physical AI, and will continue refining the smart farming trend analysis content going forward.

"Smart farming is a field where policy, industry and the field must move together, which makes it important to share the latest trends widely and in an accessible way," said Lee Si-hye, the ministry's director general for agricultural industry innovation policy. "We will continue to support farmers and businesses so they can easily make use of the latest smart farming information."
