The Korea Meteorological Administration said Sunday that rain or snow will persist through the night in the Greater Seoul area, Gangwon Province and other central regions, following the first snowfall of the autumn season in Seoul on Sunday. Snow was recorded for the first time this season at the meteorological observation station in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

Rain will continue across the Greater Seoul area, Gangwon Province, the northern part of South Chungcheong Province, the central and northern parts of North Chungcheong Province, and the northern part of North Gyeongsang Province through late Sunday night, with snow possible in the northeastern parts of Gyeonggi Province and in inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province.

Rain in Jeju and southern regions will begin in Jeju late Sunday night, expanding to South Jeolla Province in the early hours of Monday, then to North Jeolla Province, central and southern North Gyeongsang Province and South Gyeongsang Province in the afternoon, and reaching the eastern coast of North Gyeongsang Province by midday. Most areas will see the rain taper off by evening, though Busan, Ulsan and the southern East Sea coast of North Gyeongsang Province may see it continue into the early hours of Tuesday. Rain is also forecast along the East Sea coast and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province from Monday morning through the evening.

Expected rainfall totals are 5 to 30 millimeters for Jeju; 5 to 10 mm for the East Sea coast and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province, Gwangju, South Jeolla Province, Busan, Ulsan, South Gyeongsang Province, the East Sea coast of North Gyeongsang Province, Ulleungdo and Dokdo; and less than 5 mm for North Jeolla Province, Daegu and inland North Gyeongsang Province.

The early-winter cold will persist Monday. Morning lows are forecast at 2 to 11 C and afternoon highs at 11 to 15 C. Temperatures in inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province are expected to dip below freezing in the morning, and residents are advised to take precautions against frost damage.
