Nowon-gu District Mayor Seo Jun-o attended the 2026 District-Run Senior Employment Program Results Ceremony at the grand auditorium of Nowon Citizens' Hall on Thursday, commending the efforts of senior residents who contributed to the community throughout the year and celebrating their achievements.
The event was organized to share the outcomes of the senior employment program and to express gratitude to the participating seniors who have brought vitality to the local community.
Since 2023, Nowon-gu has operated its own "Nowon-type senior employment" initiative for older residents who were unable to participate in existing government-subsidized employment programs due to income or eligibility requirements. Open to anyone aged 60 or older regardless of income, participants serve as members of the "Clean Keeper Corps," working to improve the local environment through alley cleaning and the removal of illegal advertisements.
This year, a total of 5,550 seniors took part in Nowon-gu's senior employment programs, of whom 2,915 participated in the district-run initiative.
The ceremony featured a video highlighting participants' activities over the year, commendations for outstanding contributors and celebratory performances, giving attendees a chance to reflect on a year of effort and achievement.
"I am deeply grateful to the seniors who have faithfully carried out their roles across the district and brought energy to Nowon," Seo said. "We will continue to identify and support quality jobs so that seniors can spend a healthy and vibrant retirement with a sense of purpose and pride."
