3.4 billion won in disaster relief grants for private property damage, 12 billion won for public facility restoration
Government pledges swift payouts and early project launch to help affected residents rebuild

The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters on Friday approved a total recovery budget of 15.4 billion won ($11.3 million) for flood damage that occurred between Aug. 28 and Sept. 1, after formally assessing total losses at 10 billion won.
Rainfall during that period reached a cumulative 579.5 millimeters in Yeonggwang-gun, South Jeolla Province, and 284.5 millimeters in Buyeo-gun, South Chungcheong Province, causing flooding of homes and farmland across 46 cities, counties and districts in 11 provinces and metropolitan cities nationwide.
Of the 15.4 billion won recovery budget, 3.4 billion won will go toward disaster relief grants for private property damage, while 12 billion won will fund the restoration of public facilities.
Under applicable regulations, affected residents will receive 3.5 million won per flooded household, along with compensation for agricultural and forestry crop losses calculated by the extent of damage. Areas that fall short of the threshold for central government support will also be eligible for assistance.
Beyond direct payouts, 25 forms of indirect support — including deferrals of national tax payments — will be available in general disaster zones, while areas designated as special disaster zones will receive an additional 13 types of indirect support, including reductions in national health insurance premiums.
Minister of Interior and Safety Yun Ho-jung said the government would "strengthen on-site support to push forward recovery projects swiftly and do its utmost to help affected areas fully return to normal."
