Singer MC Mong has apologized to singer and actor Kim Min-jong, whom he had accused of involvement in illegal gambling.

MC Mong issued the apology during a live broadcast Saturday, saying, "I again apologize for causing misunderstanding about sunbae Kim Min-jong."

Earlier in May, MC Mong claimed during a live broadcast that an illegal gambling ring involving celebrities existed and named Kim Min-jong as one of its members. Kim strongly denied the allegation, but MC Mong's disclosure spread widely online. Kim filed a police complaint against MC Mong on Tuesday on charges of defamation through the spread of false information, in violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.

After the complaint was filed, MC Mong said, "The fact that I mentioned sunbae Kim Min-jong at all was my fault. Whatever articles come out from here, I will accept them all." He added, "The misunderstanding about sunbae Kim Min-jong's gambling has been cleared up. He warmly embraced me."

A representative for Kim Min-jong said the actor "willingly accepted, with an open heart, the belated apology of a junior who recognized his wrongdoing and bowed his head first." The statement added that although MC Mong had "targeted him and caused serious financial and emotional harm, he extended his hand first and warmly embraced the junior who came to him in late repentance."
