New chief brings broad administrative and external affairs experience

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced Tuesday that it has appointed Song Ju-beom, former deputy mayor for political affairs, as the new head of the 120 Dasan Call Foundation. His term runs three years.

Song will oversee the foundation's key policy planning and overall management, leading efforts to provide Seoul residents with more stable and professional consultation services.

Song previously served as deputy mayor for political affairs of Seoul, a member of the 7th Seoul Metropolitan Council, and chair of the council's budget and settlement committee.

Beyond public administration, Song has also worked in the private sector as a corporate adviser, building broad experience across administrative, political and external affairs. The city expects him to strengthen cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and guide the foundation toward stable growth.

The 120 Dasan Call service handles civil complaints for Seoul residents. Originally operated through private outsourcing, it was reorganized in May 2017 into the city-affiliated 120 Dasan Call Foundation to address job insecurity among call center counselors and convert them to permanent employment.

Kim Hyeong-rae, Seoul's public relations planning officer, said Song's appointment — backed by experience spanning legislative activity, city administration and local governance — would help the 120 Dasan Call Foundation evolve into a public call center that listens closely to even minor inconveniences faced by residents and raises the quality of administrative services.
