Girl group Lisénne is on a remarkable run. Despite a recent controversy, the independent-label act has been writing what fans are calling a miracle-like growth story — landing on Melon's Top 100 chart and setting an all-time peak concurrent viewer record on the platform's live chat.
According to Melon on Monday, Lisénne set the all-time record for peak simultaneous viewers among girl groups on MusicWave, Melon's real-time live chat channel.
The group held a one-hour live chat session starting at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, ranking seventh overall in peak concurrent viewers across all channels in MusicWave history — by far the highest mark ever recorded by a domestic girl group.
MusicWave's real-time playback figures feed directly into Melon's main chart calculations. Melon said the session's explosive traffic "played a decisive catalyst role" in pushing Lisénne's title track "LOVE ATTACK" to the top of the Melon Top 100 chart at 10 p.m. that same day.
The No. 1 finish came on the heels of a controversy in which member Woni, during a YouTube conversation with a producer, repeated the producer's words using the expression "museopno" — a phrase that drew accusations of using slang associated with the far-right online community Ilbe. The dispute drew in politicians, and online commenters called for official statements from the National Institute of the Korean Language and the city of Geoje. The public ultimately sided with Woni, noting she is from Geoje and that the expression was a straightforward use of a regional dialect question ending. Support for Lisénne held firm, making the chart-topping achievement all the more striking.
The momentum from that day's live session carried into the following day, Thursday. Cumulative streaming plays generated within the Lisénne channel surpassed approximately 560,000.
Lisénne was recently named one of the standout artists of the first half of 2026 by Melon Data Lab. "LOVE ATTACK," the title track from their first mini album released in August 2024, has now charted twice in reverse — climbing the charts again nearly two years after its original release.
Data analysis showed that streaming plays of "LOVE ATTACK" on Lisénne's official YouTube channel jumped as much as 2,019 percent by the end of June compared with figures at the time the channel launched. The number of listeners rose 977 percent. Particularly notable: following the viral spread of the so-called "Geoje Yahoo" meme online, searches for Lisénne on Melon jumped 6,550 percent.
