Signs are mounting that American superstar singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, 36, and NFL star Travis Kelce, 36, may be planning a secret "wedding of the century" at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The New York Times, the Associated Press and other US outlets each cited separate sources Wednesday reporting circumstances pointing to a wedding at MSG this weekend.

An internal New York Police Department document obtained by The New York Times, titled "Taylor Swift Wedding at MSG," shows that wedding-related events are planned over two days and will be entirely closed to the public.

A rehearsal dinner for about 100 guests is scheduled for Thursday evening at MSG, followed by the main ceremony Friday evening. The ceremony is expected to run until 2 a.m. Saturday with up to 1,000 guests in attendance.

Swift's team is also reported to have applied for permits to close roads near MSG.

The AP said it observed a work crew unloading equipment from trucks outside MSG this week, and that a large carpet was briefly rolled out in front of one entrance before being quickly removed.

A former senior NYPD official told The New York Times that Swift's fandom rivals the Beatles and Michael Jackson at their peak, and that hundreds of police officers would be needed to maintain crowd safety beyond the private security Swift has hired.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani also said at a briefing that a permit application had been received for a "large-scale event" at MSG. "We are fully prepared," he said. "I have nothing else to share beyond that."

English-language media have been competing to cover the Swift-Kelce wedding, but the couple has not officially confirmed whether a wedding is taking place or where it will be held.

MSG — a concert hall and sports arena where Swift has performed eight times — also fits naturally with Kelce's background as one of the NFL's biggest active stars, foreign media have noted.

Betting money pours in on Swift wedding

Swift has long expressed her affection for New York through her music, including her 2014 hit "Welcome to New York."

Swift publicly confirmed her relationship with Kelce in 2023 and announced their engagement last year. In recent weeks, rumors of an imminent wedding have begun to spread.

As wedding speculation intensified, prediction betting platform Kalshi saw wagers on Swift's wedding reach $2 million (about 3.05 billion won) as of June 10, according to The New York Times and other outlets.

Of that total, $1.49 million was placed on bets specifically about the wedding venue.

New York topped the prediction rankings even then, with Pennsylvania and Tennessee each trailing far behind at just 2 percent.

Meanwhile, MSG is considered a dream stage that has hosted legendary artists including Michael Jackson, Madonna and Billy Joel.
