Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport approves business plan revision
Jejuair will continue operating its Incheon-Jeju domestic route through Oct. 24.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said Friday it had approved Jejuair's request to revise its business plan, allowing the carrier to extend the Incheon-Jeju domestic service through Oct. 24, when the summer season ends.
Jejuair launched the route on May 12, initially scheduling two flights per week through Aug. 7 using a Boeing 737-800 with 189 seats. The airline applied for an extension after the route posted a load factor of 89 percent in May, confirming steady passenger demand.
The ministry said the Incheon-Jeju route has taken hold by capturing not only existing domestic demand between the Greater Seoul area and Jeju, but also inbound tourists and transit passengers using Incheon International Airport. The share of foreign passengers on the route reached 30 percent — more than double the ratio seen on Jejuair's other routes.
"Extending the Incheon-Jeju service will allow us to offer more convenient travel options for both Korean and foreign passengers," said Lee So-young, the ministry's aviation policy director. "We will actively review support measures to further improve transit and travel convenience between Incheon Airport and regional destinations, and to help boost tourism in those areas."
