Construction Workers Mutual Aid Association launches resort welfare service, offering 550,000 won in accommodation points and a 50,000-won welcome box per recipient across 48 facilities in Jeju, Busan, Gangwon Province and beyond
Construction workers will receive vacation subsidies worth up to 600,000 won ($397) per person to stay at hotels and resorts in major tourist destinations across the country. The program aims to improve welfare for workers who spend long periods on job sites and to support family rest time.
The Construction Workers Mutual Aid Association announced Monday it would launch a "resort welfare service" for construction workers to boost their sense of pride and strengthen family bonds.
The program covers 48 hotels and resorts at popular tourist destinations nationwide, providing each recipient with 550,000 won in points redeemable for accommodation bookings and a 50,000-won welcome box. A total of 500 workers will be selected, each receiving benefits worth 600,000 won.
To be eligible, workers must have accumulated at least 252 days in the retirement mutual aid system overall and at least 100 days in either the previous calendar year or the most recent 12 months. Workers who have already received or are in the process of claiming retirement mutual aid payments as of the application date — or who have already been selected for a vacation support welfare service this year — are excluded.
Applications are open from May 26 through June 7. The association plans to select final recipients based on criteria including whether the applicant qualifies as a youth — defined as those born in 1991 or later — and their total accumulated days in the retirement mutual aid system. The 48 participating properties span major tourist destinations across the country, including the Fairmont Ambassador Seoul, Lotte Hotel World and Grand Walkerhill Seoul in the capital; Inspire Entertainment Resort in Incheon; Sol Beach Yangyang in Gangwon Province; Grand Hyatt Jeju in Jeju; Lotte Hotel Busan in Busan; and Sonokam Geoje in Geoje.
"We will continue to expand a range of welfare programs so that construction workers can recharge with their families and improve their quality of life," an association official said.
