Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party's former presidential candidate, traveled to Gimpo on May 31 to stump for Kim Byung-soo, the PPP candidate for Gimpo mayor, at the Janggi Station intersection.

According to the Kim Byung-soo campaign, the rally drew roughly 500 attendees, including PPP candidates and supporters, in an enthusiastic atmosphere.

Kim Moon-soo highlighted the passage of a preliminary feasibility study for the Seoul Metro Line 5 extension to Gimpo as a signature achievement of Kim Byung-soo's tenure as mayor.

"Are you aware that the preliminary feasibility study for the Line 5 extension passed while Mayor Kim was in office? That was no easy feat," Kim Moon-soo said. "Major national projects must be seen through to the end by people who have actually been in the trenches."

He also appealed to voters to back Kim Byung-soo without reservation. "Gimpo is now poised to develop even further and become a gateway looking toward reunification," he said. "On June 3, if you believe Kim Byung-soo is the right person to accelerate the Line 5 extension and GTX-D and build a city worth living in, give him your full and unanimous support."

The Kim Byung-soo campaign said the visit demonstrated the PPP's strong commitment to Gimpo's development. "We will make clear to residents which candidate will see through key priorities — including the early completion of the Line 5 Gimpo extension — to the very end," the campaign said.
