Jongno-gu will hold four sessions of its "2026 Changdeokgung Secret Garden Invitation Tour" throughout November.

Themed "Sharing World Heritage — An Autumn Walk Through Changdeokgung," the event aims to give residents who rarely have the opportunity to visit historic palaces a chance to experience national heritage, while fostering neighborly exchange and community spirit.

About 120 residents, including those from socially vulnerable groups, have been invited by the Changdeokgung Management Office to tour the palace's rear garden as its foliage reaches peak autumn color.

Tours will run Nov. 11, 12, 19 and 20, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Up to 40 participants will be admitted per day. Each neighborhood community center will select participants and escort them to the designated meeting point at Changdeokgung.

The Secret Garden is a royal garden built along the natural terrain behind Changdeokgung, which was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Ponds and pavilions — including Buyongji and Yeongyeongdang — set amid dense woodland make it one of the most celebrated autumn foliage destinations in the city.

Tours will begin at Geumhomun Gate and proceed through Injeongjeon, Buyongji and Yeongyeongdang. Given the walking nature of the tour, organizers said they will take steps to ensure safety and a comfortable experience for all participants.

Jongno-gu District Mayor Yoo Chan-jong said he hoped residents would "share the joy of experiencing our national heritage together, connect with neighbors, and create precious autumn memories."
