Gangseo-gu hosts a special lecture by neuroscientist Jang Dong-sun on navigating the rapidly changing age of AI
Gangseo-gu in Seoul will host a special celebrity lecture as part of its "Gangseo Happy Humanities Lecture Series," aimed at broadening residents' cultural literacy and preparing them for a rapidly evolving technological future.
The lecture will be held Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. at Gangseo District Office (135 Gonghang-daero, multipurpose hall on the second below-ground floor), with neuroscientist Jang Dong-sun serving as the featured speaker. Jang will deliver a 90-minute talk titled "The Future of the AI Age as Seen by a Neuroscientist."
Jang earned a doctorate in human perception, cognition and behavior from the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research in Germany. Jang has made neuroscience and emerging technology accessible to the public through appearances on numerous television programs — including tvN's "Alssulsinzap 2" (a variety show), "You Quiz on the Block" and JTBC's "Knowing Bros" — as well as through published books.
During the lecture, Jang plans to explore, from a neuroscientific perspective, the differences between the human brain and AI, how the human brain processes rapidly evolving technology, the paradigm shifts in industry, technology and education brought on by the rise of generative AI, and the qualities and directions of change that future society will demand of its people.
The lecture is open to 350 Gangseo-gu residents and is free of charge. Those wishing to attend may register through the Gangseo District Office website under the notices and news section.
Gangseo-gu District Mayor Jin Kyo-hoon said the event was organized to help residents "wisely prepare for a future society through neuroscientific insight, at a time of great transformation driven by the rapid rise of AI technology," adding that he hoped as many interested residents as possible would take part.
