Keimyung University in Daegu is expanding its tuberculosis screening program for international students and moving to regular preemptive testing as part of a broader push to strengthen student health management.

The university completed chest X-ray screenings for 1,035 exchange students, degree-seeking international students and language program participants from Wednesday to Friday.

The university covered all costs of the screenings.

The initiative was carried out in cooperation with the Dalseo-gu Public Health Center, following a request from the KDCA's tuberculosis policy division and the Daegu city government's public health and medical policy division to strengthen TB management among international students.

Going forward, Keimyung University plans to include tuberculosis testing in its annual international student health checkups held each March, with a separate round of chest X-ray screenings each September.

"We will work with local public health agencies to protect the health of international students and prevent infectious diseases," said Kim Ju-wook, head of the administrative team at the university's health care center.
