LetsRun Park Yeongcheon, operated by the Korea Racing Authority, conducted its first joint fire drill since its official opening, stepping up its disaster response capabilities.
According to LetsRun Park Yeongcheon, the facility held the drill Thursday at its grandstand and front plaza in coordination with the Geumho 119 Safety Center under the Yeongcheon Fire Department and other related agencies. The exercise was part of the 2026 Safe Korea Disaster Response Training program.
It was the first large-scale, practical fire drill held since the park's official opening in September.
About 60 officials and firefighters took part, running through scenarios based on a fire breaking out on the second floor of the grandstand. The drill covered initial suppression, evacuation of moviegoers, emergency rescue of the injured, fire vehicle deployment and joint firefighting operations.
Participants particularly focused on testing the on-site effectiveness of the disaster response manual — from the initial fire report through evacuation guidance to emergency relief — and on evaluating coordination between agencies.
"We will strengthen cooperation with related agencies and, through repeated practical drills, build an accident-free racing park where the public can enjoy themselves with peace of mind," an official from the park's operations division said.
