Seongdong-gu District Mayor Yoo Bo-hwa toured Yeonmujang-gil and the area around Seongsu Station on Friday to inspect crowd conditions and pedestrian safety on the first day of the district's intensive Halloween management period.

Yoo also visited an on-site operations center set up at the Shoe Theme Park to review crowd management arrangements and emergency response systems.

Seongdong-gu began advance surveillance of the Seongsu-dong area on Oct. 23 and has designated Friday through Sunday as the core management period, during which intensive patrols will continue across five zones — four in Seongsu-dong and one at Wangsimni Station.

The district is also drawing on its Seongdong-gu crowd-safety rating system, in operation since August, which assesses risk levels in advance when large gatherings are expected — such as pop-up store events or celebrity visits — and applies safety measures calibrated to the assessed rating to prevent crowd accidents.
