Seongbuk-gu has shown a distinctive commitment to fair trade since its fifth elected administration.

That commitment led to the establishment of the Seongbuk-gu Fair Trade Center, which is now marking its 10th anniversary.

Seongbuk-gu and the Seongbuk-gu Fair Trade Center will hold the 2026 Seongbuk-gu Fair Trade Fair on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Jeongneung Traffic Square (7-10 Bogungmun-ro, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul).

The event is the district's first comprehensive fair trade festival, organized to mark the center's 10th anniversary. It is designed as a platform for sharing a decade of fair trade achievements with residents and bringing together producers, consumers, local shops and the community in a spirit of mutual support and solidarity.

The centerpiece of the festival is the Fair Trade Market, where fair trade companies — including Areumdaun Coffee, The Dual Roasters, Tripti and Gonggi Handicraft — will join local zero-waste and neighborhood shops to offer a range of ethically sourced products: fair trade coffee, hand cream, handcrafted goods, locally grown sourdough and eco-friendly merchandise.

A free fair trade awareness campaign booth run by Boycott, a youth network under the Seongbuk Woori Village initiative, will also operate at the event, aiming to build a shared culture of conscious consumption led by the next generation.

The Fair Trade Experience Zone for children and families will feature activities including a fishing game based on the 10 principles of fair trade, a "carry a 20-kilogram cacao sack" challenge simulating producer labor, and a deform-block clicker craft. One-day classes — available through advance or on-site registration — will include a fair trade seasonal jam-making session and a clothing repair workshop. A slow-walk fair travel program along Jeongneungcheon, an eco-friendly honeycomb board photo zone and a camping rest area will also be available throughout the day.

Seongbuk-gu District Mayor Lee Seung-ro said the district is "a fair trade pioneer city that operates the country's first and only dedicated fair trade center," adding, "We will share the valuable achievements of the past 10 years with our residents and, through new connections and solidarity, chart a sustainable future together for the next decade."
