Kyobo Life has launched a new daily market information service to help variable insurance customers manage their fund investments.

The insurer announced Friday that it has added a "Morning Briefing" service to its variable insurance robo-adviser platform. The feature is designed to help customers consistently manage their variable insurance funds — including switching funds — in line with their investment profiles and prevailing market conditions.

The Morning Briefing delivers analysis of key global economic issues relevant to fund management every weekday at 9 a.m., giving variable insurance customers a daily snapshot of financial market trends to inform their investment decisions.

Kyobo Life has offered robo-adviser services to variable insurance and retirement pension subscribers since 2021. The platform uses AI algorithms to analyze financial market and fund data, then recommends asset allocation strategies and fund portfolios suited to each customer's investment profile and objectives.

With the addition of Morning Briefing, the robo-adviser now provides three types of market information. The "Monthly Outlook" covers investment prospects by asset class and highlights key indicators to watch — including interest rates, employment rates and exchange rates. The "Issue Report" presents recommended allocation weights by asset class, spanning domestic, developed and emerging markets, and quickly assesses the investment impact of major market events as they arise. Morning Briefing builds on the analysis in those existing reports by summarizing the latest market movements each day.

Alongside the service upgrade, Kyobo Life is also working to strengthen the variable insurance management capabilities of its financial planners (FPs). The company provides training videos on variable insurance funds and robo-adviser usage, and conducts monthly in-person training sessions at FP branches and support units. FPs also visit variable insurance customers directly one to two times a year to review fund performance and assist with robo-adviser-based management.

"Variable insurance is a long-term product that must be managed with the customer's investment profile and goals in mind, so consistent management in step with market changes is essential," a Kyobo Life official said. "If the FP serves as a financial partner by the customer's side and a pacemaker through life's journey, the robo-adviser acts as a navigation system — constantly guiding customers toward the right management direction for their needs." The official added that Kyobo Life would continue combining FPs' professional in-person consultations with AI-based asset management services to help customers manage their variable insurance funds over the long term.

Meanwhile, Kyobo Life became the first insurer in South Korea to introduce a robo-adviser for retirement pension (IRP and DC-type) subscribers in 2021, and more than half of IRP and DC-type subscribers managing performance-linked assets now use the service.
