Eunpyeong-gu in Seoul is hosting its 7th Traditional Market Fair on Friday, bringing together seven local traditional markets to help revitalize the district's traditional retail scene.

The fair will offer residents a single venue to browse and purchase products and food from traditional markets and alley shopping districts across the district, the Eunpyeong-gu office announced.

The event is designed to expand sales channels for local merchants and encourage residents to visit traditional markets and alley shopping districts. Merchants will introduce and sell their products directly, giving them an opportunity to engage with the community.

Seven traditional markets and alley shopping districts, along with the Eunpyeong-gu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will take part in the sales exhibition, offering a wide range of food and goods. Merchants will promote their stores while residents can compare and purchase products from multiple markets and vendors in one place.

A dedicated food zone will let visitors enjoy local fare, and a singing contest open to all residents will also be held, with prizes awarded to winners. Alongside this, magic performances and concerts by local singers will round out the program, allowing residents to shop and enjoy live entertainment at the same time.

Through the fair, the district plans to support merchants in promoting their products and stores while raising residents' awareness of traditional markets and alley shopping districts to drive foot traffic and local spending.

The event will be held at GTX Yeonshin849 Plaza (Exit 6 of Yeonsinnae Station) from noon to 7 p.m. and is open to all.

Eunpyeong-gu District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung said she hopes residents will discover the appeal of the district's traditional markets and alley shopping districts through the fair and visit nearby stores more often. "We will continue working to expand sales channels for local merchants and support small business owners in running their operations," Kim said.
