Public housing, infrastructure sites visited Tuesday–Wednesday
Smart safety management systems reviewed
The Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation (SH) has launched safety inspections at major construction sites in preparation for seasonal hazards such as dropping temperatures and strong winds.
SH said Thursday that President Hwang Sang-ha spent two days — Tuesday and Wednesday — visiting six public housing and infrastructure construction sites to assess safety management conditions.
The inspections were aimed at proactively addressing construction-site risks arising from the change of season and encouraging workers on the ground to put safety practices into action.
The six sites covered were the Magok District 16 public housing construction project, the Magok-dong 1410 public housing construction project, the Sacheon stormwater pump station construction project, the Songpa Creative Innovation development complex construction project, the Hongneung R&D Support Center construction project and the Godeok Gangil sports park and green landscaping project.
At each site, the inspection team checked for hazards linked to falling temperatures and strong winds and verified compliance with basic safety rules. Time was also set aside to hear from site managers and workers and to discuss prevention-focused safety management measures.
The team also reviewed SH's smart safety management system. SH operates a platform that connects AI-powered closed-circuit television cameras and smart safety equipment to an integrated system, enabling real-time monitoring of site conditions and rapid response when hazards arise.
"Safety at construction sites starts with strictly following basic safety rules and identifying and correcting risk factors before they become problems," Hwang said. "I ask everyone — site managers and workers alike — to make safety the top priority and work to firmly establish a culture of voluntary safety management."
Meanwhile, SH is carrying out a 2026 residential environment improvement project with joint participation from employees and the labor union. As part of the initiative, the corporation held a volunteer activity and donation drive Wednesday at Yeongnak Mother and Child Center in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul.
