Promotion covers transport, shopping and hotel benefits starting Sunday

Discounts and perks available to holders of Shinhan Card's Japan travel cards

JCB, the Japanese international card brand, has partnered with Shinhan Card and Japan's Nishitetsu Group to run a joint promotion in the Fukuoka area targeting Korean tourists. The campaign aims to make it easier for Korean visitors to use public transportation across the city.

JCB said Wednesday the collaboration with Shinhan Card and Nishitetsu — formally known as Nishi-Nippon Railroad — will begin Sunday, offering Korean travelers benefits covering transportation, shopping and hotel stays in Fukuoka.

The promotion is a co-marketing initiative through which JCB connects Korean card issuers with local Japanese businesses. It is designed to improve payment convenience for Korean tourists and boost tourism spending in the Fukuoka area. Centered on one of the most popular Japanese destinations for Korean visitors, the campaign spans public transit, shopping and accommodation.

The promotion applies to two Shinhan Card products designed for travel to Japan: Shinhan Card Haru and Shinhan Card SOL Trip & J. Holders of either card can use contactless payment on Nishitetsu buses and trains in the Fukuoka area, and receive discounts and preferential benefits at major commercial facilities and hotel restaurants.

Nishitetsu Group, which is participating in the promotion, is a comprehensive transportation and retail conglomerate operating railways, local bus routes and express bus services in Fukuoka and the broader Kyushu region. The group also runs major commercial properties and hotel businesses in Fukuoka's central Tenjin district, including Solaria Plaza, Solaria Stage and ONE FUKUOKA BLDG.

Beyond Japan, Nishitetsu Group operates hotels in Seoul, Thailand and Taiwan.

JCB launched its card business in Japan in 1961 and has expanded internationally since 1981. The company said it currently has about 72 million merchant locations and more than 181 million cardholders worldwide.

JCB said it plans to continue expanding payment services and cardholder benefits for international travelers through further partnerships with Korean financial firms and Japanese businesses.
