The former girlfriend of Kim Hyun-joong (40), leader of K-pop group SS501, who sparked controversy after giving birth to his child outside of marriage, has debuted as a TikToker.
The woman, identified only as A, has joined TikTok live agency Lightning Central under the stage name SeeU and begun formal activities, according to At Style.
She is currently conducting live broadcasts on TikTok and reportedly ranks highly on the platform.
The agency said it plans to pursue a wide range of content with her, including beauty, health and entertainment. "SeeU is a responsible single mother who is actively shaping her own life," the agency said. "Her bright and positive energy and honest communication are her strengths, and we ask for your warm support and encouragement as she shows a new side of herself as a creator."
A dated Kim Hyun-joong for about three years beginning in 2012, but the relationship turned contentious in 2014 when she filed assault charges against him. Kim received a summary order to pay a fine of 5 million won ($3,770).
In 2015, A disclosed that she was pregnant with Kim's child, triggering a public dispute over the out-of-wedlock birth. She ultimately gave birth, and after paternity proceedings, the child was confirmed to be Kim's. The child is currently in A's care.
A filed a lawsuit against Kim seeking 1.6 billion won ($1.21 million) in damages, claiming she suffered emotional harm during the pregnancy and the ensuing conflict. She also alleged that she had previously been pregnant with Kim's child but miscarried due to his assault.
Kim did not contest the substance of her claims but said he had already paid her 600 million won under a confidentiality agreement, which she violated by going public. He raised the possibility that the pregnancy and miscarriage allegations were false. The dispute escalated as both sides filed criminal complaints and civil suits against each other.
In 2020, the Supreme Court ruled that A's claims of pregnancy, a miscarriage caused by Kim's assault, and coerced abortion were false, and ordered her to pay Kim 100 million won in damages.
Kim married his first love, a woman his own age, in 2022, and the couple has one child.
