Yeongdeungpo-gu District Mayor Jo Yu-jin attended the 7th Disability Harmony Singing Contest at Yeongdeungpo Art Hall on Friday afternoon.
Organized by the Yeongdeungpo-gu chapter of the Seoul Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities, the event drew about 250 participants — including people with disabilities, association members and volunteers — who enjoyed celebratory performances and singing competitions in a spirit of unity and open exchange.
A highlight came when the emcee invited Jo to the stage on the spot. She took the microphone and sang an impromptu rendition of "Nongbuga," a traditional farmers' song, telling the crowd she would perform a short version of the tune once sung by farmers working the rice paddies of Singil-dong when she was young. The performance drew an enthusiastic response from the audience.
"I am delighted to join this meaningful gathering where residents can laugh freely and share lively conversation on a beautiful autumn day," Jo said. "I hope everyone here continues to have a day filled with happiness and good fortune."
