Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity holds space exploration pop-up exhibition from Thursday to Tuesday
A special exhibition bringing together youth artworks destined for the lunar surface and space exploration rovers opens in Seoul this week.
The Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity will hold a pop-up exhibition themed "Space Exploration of Korea" from Thursday to Tuesday at Pop-up Studio A on the fourth floor of The Hyundai Seoul in Yeouido.
The exhibition is co-organized by the foundation and Unmanned Exploration Laboratory, a space robotics company. It was designed to showcase the achievements and future vision of South Korea's aerospace industry while sparking children's and young people's interest in and imagination about space.
The exhibition will feature 20 award-winning pieces from the HIS Youth space science competition. The works will be stored on digital media and transported to the lunar surface via a time capsule aboard the IM-3 mission of Intuitive Machines, a US private space company.
Visitors can also encounter robot technology used in real space exploration. Demonstrations will be held for eight rovers that advanced to the finals of the Korea Space Rover Challenge, hosted by the Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA), including SCARAB, a space exploration rover developed by Unmanned Exploration Laboratory.
From youth space artworks to actual space exploration technology, visitors can experience the present and future of South Korea's space development in one place.
"I hope this event will serve as a meaningful opportunity to share a vision of space with children and young people," said Jung Woo-sung, president of the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity. "We will continue to expand space science content that everyone can enjoy, in collaboration with a wide range of organizations."
