Uiseong-gun in North Gyeongsang Province will hold the 40th Uiseong Cultural Festival over two days at Uiseong General Stadium on Saturday and Sunday.

Organized by the Uiseong Cultural Center, the festival brings together traditional culture and contemporary arts in a range of programs for local residents and visitors.

This year's event carries the slogan "Righteous Fortress Uiseong — Connecting the Tradition and Future of Hongseul," drawing on the county's history and spirit to reinterpret its traditional culture and historical heritage through modern cultural content.

Key programs include a Sajikje ritual ceremony honoring Uiseong's traditions and history, a General Hongseul victory procession, and a traditional flower-rope performance, all rooted in the county's distinctive historical and cultural resources.

Local arts and cultural organizations will also take part, running a variety of performances, exhibitions and hands-on experience programs to showcase the creative work and cultural talent of regional artists.

Singer Kang Mungyeong will perform at the opening ceremony Saturday, while singer Kim Junsu will take the stage at the closing ceremony Sunday.

"I hope the 40th Uiseong Cultural Festival will serve as a meaningful occasion to reflect on the county's history and traditions while enjoying a wide range of cultural and artistic experiences together," Uiseong-gun Mayor Choi Yu-cheol said.
