Yecheon-gun in North Gyeongsang Province held a "Community Harmony Five-Color Bibimbap Performance" Saturday in front of the main stage at Hancheon Sports Park as part of the 2026 Yecheon Agricultural Products Festival.
About 30 people attended the event, including Yecheon-gun Mayor An Byeong-yun, Yecheon County Council Speaker Kim Hong-nyeon, provincial and county lawmakers, and heads of local institutions and organizations.
The NH Nonghyup Yecheon branch and the Yecheon County Farm Housewives Association jointly organized the performance to promote community solidarity and encourage rice consumption using locally grown Misojinpum rice and other regional produce.
The five-color bibimbap — made with spinach, carrot, egg garnish, Yecheon rice, radish and bracken fern — used the blending of different ingredients to symbolize harmony among residents, tourists, farmers and local organizations.
Each ingredient carried its own meaning: green spinach represented life and hope; red carrot, passion and vitality; yellow egg garnish, abundance and harvest; white Yecheon rice and radish, honesty and purity; and brown bracken fern, the mountains and soil of Yecheon and the county's long history of farming.
Attendees and spectators joined a call-and-response led by the emcee — answering "Yecheon!" to the chant "A bountiful harvest, the best of K-agricultural products!" — before sharing the finished bibimbap together.
"Every ingredient in the bibimbap carries the sweat of our farmers, and we brought the hearts of our residents together with one large paddle," Mayor An said. "I hope this single bowl today becomes a stepping stone that draws more people to our local produce and leads our community toward greater unity."
