Park Guk-ji (Teresa), a Catholic layperson, has donated 200 million won ($147,000) to the School of Theology at Daegu Catholic University, fulfilling a shared wish she had long held with her late husband, Heo Jong-jung (Paulo), who died in May.
According to Daegu Catholic University, a donation ceremony was held on campus Wednesday, at which Park presented the 200 million won development fund.
A handprint ceremony was also held that day to honor the donor.
The donation traces its origins to a joint effort by Park and her late husband to support the education and growth of seminary students.
In keeping with the donor's wishes, the funds will be used to support students at the university's School of Theology.
"It is deeply meaningful to be able to carry forward the wish my husband and I cherished together for so long," Park said. "I hope this support helps seminary students devote themselves to their studies and prepare for their calling."
