Funds go to athletics, weightlifting and modern pentathlon federations
Descente Korea announced Friday that it has donated a combined 100 million won ($73,600) to three sports organizations — the Korea Athletics Federation, the Korea Weightlifting Federation and the Korea Modern Pentathlon Federation — to support the development of young sports talent.
The donation aligns with Descente Korea's philosophy of "the joy of sports for everyone," aimed at helping young athletes train and grow in a stable environment.
The initiative particularly targets athletics, weightlifting and modern pentathlon — disciplines where systematic development from the youth level is critical — with the goal of identifying and supporting future sports talent and broadening the base of each sport.
The handover ceremony was held at "Descente in Nagoya," a venue in Nagoya where the Asian Games are currently under way, with Descente Korea Chairman Shimizu Motonari and representatives from each federation in attendance.
The funds will be channeled through each federation to support projects including youth athlete development, improvements to training facilities and the operation of talent development programs.
"We will continue to support the development of sports talent and expand opportunities for sports participation, carrying out a range of activities that bring to life the spirit of 'the joy of sports for everyone,'" Shimizu said.
