Yeongju City in North Gyeongsang Province has been drawing attention on social media with a series of unconventional promotional videos ahead of two upcoming local festivals.
The latest clip — a parody of GENER8ION's music video "Storm II" — has proved especially popular, featuring more than 60 senior civil servants from Yeongju City Hall performing and dancing in sync to the track.
The city said Friday the video was produced to promote both the Punggi Ginseng Festival and the Museom Onanmudari Festival, with the civil servants acting and performing group choreography set to the music.
The unexpected sight of officials better known for meetings and administrative work has resonated with viewers: the clip has racked up about 200,000 views on Instagram Reels and around 30,000 views on YouTube, including Shorts.
Many viewers have praised the approach as a refreshing departure from the formulaic promotional content typically produced by government agencies.
An earlier parody video made to promote the Punggi Ginseng Festival — based on "Odyssey: Song of the Sirens" — has also drawn about 80,000 views.
In that clip, a ginseng character called "Samiren" takes the place of a siren, luring men with a song urging them to "come to Punggi" — a playful nod to the festival's signature product.
Both videos were created to build excitement for the 2026 Yeongju Punggi Ginseng Festival, running Saturday through Oct. 11, and the 2026 Yeongju Museom Onanmudari Festival, running Saturday through Sunday.
"We will continue to produce content that showcases Yeongju's many attractions — its festivals, tourism, history and culture — in fresh and engaging ways," said An Sun-gi, head of the city's public relations and information technology office.
