Air Force One to stop in Anchorage for refueling before returning to Korea
President Lee Jae Myung has departed for home after completing a seven-day, five-night trip to the United States and Mexico.
Air Force One, carrying Lee and first lady Kim Hye-kyung, took off Saturday (local time) from Felipe Angeles International Airport. The plane is scheduled to make a brief stop in Anchorage, Alaska, for refueling before continuing to South Korea.
During the trip, Lee laid out his vision for peace on the Korean Peninsula in a keynote address to the UN General Assembly.
Also notable was a third summit with US President Donald Trump, during which the two leaders held follow-up discussions on investment projects in the United States that have been effectively finalized, as well as security issues on the Korean Peninsula.
In Mexico, Lee discussed trade and investment, working to support South Korean companies seeking to expand there and exploring cooperation in advanced industries. The trip was also seen as broadening the reach of South Korea's economic diplomacy in Latin America.
