LG Uplus is rolling out a range of services and benefits tailored to customers' chuseok holiday plans — whether they are traveling abroad, leaving their homes unattended or staying in for the long weekend.

The company announced Wednesday it would operate a suite of chuseok offerings spanning roaming, smart home, AI and content subscriptions, and membership perks.

Customers traveling overseas can take advantage of in-flight Wi-Fi, 5G roaming and roaming calls through the AI calling app ixi-O. Those leaving their homes for an extended period can use smart home services including home and door cameras, while customers spending the holiday at home will have access to AI and content subscription discounts and membership benefits.

LG Uplus is running the 2026 U+ Roaming In-Flight Wi-Fi Event through the end of this year. Its 5G roaming service, as of July, is available in 100 countries and territories worldwide, though connections may fall back to LTE or 3G depending on local network conditions and device compatibility.

The ixi-O roaming call feature is also available abroad. Customers subscribed to an LG Uplus roaming plan or connected to Wi-Fi can make voice calls back to South Korea without incurring international call charges. The service launched in Japan in July and is now available in more than 170 countries.

Smart home services are also on offer for customers away from home during the holiday. The HomeCam Lite, released this month, provides QHD-resolution video and AI detection for 5,500 won per month on a three-year contract. It features a security chip, video encryption and two-factor authentication, and includes insurance covering fire damage and video hacking incidents.

For customers staying home over the holiday, LG Uplus is offering discounts of up to 5,000 won on new subscriptions to AI and content products through Sept. 30. Eligible products carry billing discounts of up to 45 percent, with the exact amount and conditions varying by product.

A "U+" plugin for ChatGPT lets customers browse plans and benefits for Nugget, the company's online-only rate plan, directly within the ChatGPT chat interface. Users can check plan details, data allowances, monthly fees and key perks, and selecting a plan links through to the Nugget official website. Steps requiring personal information — such as identity verification and subscription applications — are handled through official LG Uplus channels.

The company's membership program, Uplus Toppul, is offering chuseok-themed benefits covering grocery shopping, dining and outings. Deals are available at Kurly, Sajo Mall and Ottogi Mall, along with accommodation, cultural and dining perks. On Thursday, long-term customers will receive a discount at E-mart24.

Meanwhile, LG Uplus has put in place a special communications contingency plan to handle the expected surge in calls and data usage over the holiday. The company will conduct advance inspections of 5G and LTE base stations at expressways, rest stops, KTX and SRT stations, bus terminals and airports nationwide, and will operate a central situation room at its Magok headquarters in Seoul to monitor the network around the clock throughout the holiday period.
