Sessions cover safe use of public pet facilities and understanding canine behavior — registration open from Sept. 14 to Sept. 28, with 15 spots per session and 30 total, on a first-come, first-served basis
Jungnang-gu is launching a dog park socialization education program to promote responsible pet culture and safe use of public dog playgrounds.
The program is designed to help dog owners and their pets learn the basic safety rules for using public facilities, understand canine behavioral signals, and respond appropriately. It aims to prevent accidents at dog parks and foster a culture of mutual consideration and responsibility among pet owners.
Classes will be held twice — on Oct. 10 and Oct. 24 — from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Pet Family Rest Area in Yongma Falls Park.
The program is open to Jungnang-gu residents who have completed animal registration. A total of 30 participants will be accepted — 15 per session — and dogs must accompany their owners. If applications exceed capacity, priority will be given to low-income residents and single-person households aged 65 or older within the district.
The curriculum covers owner conduct and etiquette for safe playground use, how dogs can greet each other safely at the park, how to distinguish friendly from aggressive canine behavioral signals, and how to prevent accidents through timely owner intervention and mediation. After the sessions conclude, follow-up support and feedback will be provided through online channels.
Applications are accepted from 10 a.m. Sept. 14 through 6 p.m. Sept. 28. Residents can apply online via the QR code on the promotional poster or by calling "Good Boy School" directly.
Jungnang-gu District Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi said he hopes the program will give owners a deeper understanding of their dogs' behavior and help them practice proper pet etiquette at public facilities. "We will continue to pursue a range of policies to build a mature pet culture where people and animals can coexist in harmony," Ryu said.
