Pro-Specs opens Seochon flagship store with Chuncheon Marathon 80th anniversary exhibition

Pro-Specs announced Monday that it has opened a new flagship store in the Seochon neighborhood along Jahamun-ro in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

The building previously housed a Pro-Specs store. Rather than demolishing the existing structure, the company added new functions to it. Studio COM handled the spatial design, applying white steel frames over an exposed concrete frame and terrazzo flooring.

The first floor is laid out to allow visitors to move freely between the interior and exterior, with glass panels on the outer walls drawing the streetscape of Seochon into the store. The inaugural program is an exhibition titled "Wish You Were Here," marking the 80th anniversary of the Chuncheon Marathon. Pro-Specs has served as an official sponsor of the Chuncheon Marathon since 2023.

The exhibition opens with "Prologue: A Heart That Heads There," a series of works by photographer Jang Su-in. Photographs taken in Scotland, Humlebæk in Denmark and Colorado in the United States are presented in a slide-film format. Visitors can write letters to their future selves on postcards provided at the exhibition space.

The next section, "12 Scenes from the Road: Memories of the Landscape," features 12 runners sharing their personal photo collections and stories. Participants include Hwang Young-jo, who won the marathon gold medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, and former national team marathoner Kwon Eun-ju, along with Chuncheon Marathon pacemakers, Hall of Fame inductees and amateur runners.

"We will expand the spatial content — including introducing new season collections and a variety of products — and operate it as an open space where diverse experiences continue," a Pro-Specs official said.
