Aging facility upgraded and reopened as reading and cultural space

Busan Bank held a reopening ceremony Friday for the renovated Chanseami Small Library in Yeongdo-gu, Busan.

The library has long served as a community cultural space where local residents and children could access books and take part in various cultural activities. Over the years, however, the facility had deteriorated — suffering from aging infrastructure, water leaks and a damaged exterior sign — making improvements necessary to restore a proper reading and cultural environment.

In response, Busan Bank partnered with Busan Transportation Corporation and ChildFund Korea to overhaul the library, replacing the exterior sign and facade, installing automatic doors, fixing water leaks and repainting the outside.

Mindful of the bus stop directly in front of the library, the partners created a rest area at the entrance so residents waiting for public transit could comfortably linger. The bank also donated cultural books, aiming to transform the library from a simple reading space into a community gathering place where residents can naturally spend time and connect.

"Together with Busan Transportation Corporation and ChildFund Korea, Busan Bank has been improving the living environments of 127 vulnerable households and 11 senior centers across Busan since 2023 through our 'Home Repair with Love' project," a bank official said. "We will consistently continue practical support projects that residents can feel in their daily lives."
