Pop-up runs from Monday through November in Harrods' men's contemporary section
Harrods approached brand first; 64-piece collection to be showcased
Handsome, the fashion arm of Hyundai Department Store Group, announced Thursday it is expanding the retail footprint of its brand System Paris. Following the opening of a permanent store at Galeries Lafayette in Paris earlier this year, the company will open a pop-up store at Harrods in London — the world's top-grossing department store by single-location sales.
The pop-up, running from Monday (local time) through November, will be located in the "Contemporary Collections" zone on the second floor of Harrods' menswear section. Handsome will present 64 items — including clothing, bags and shoes — selected from more than 300 new System Paris products.
"The pop-up came about at Harrods' invitation," the company said. "We had been selling System Paris products through Harrods' own multi-brand edit shop since last fall/winter season, and the strong performance — with some items selling out completely — led to this opportunity."
During the pop-up, Handsome will run marketing activations incorporating Korean cultural elements. On Sept. 12, the company will partner with Look Left, a Korean tea café in London, to offer complimentary drinks to visitors. In November, a gift promotion inspired by the colors and ornamental tassels of hanbok is also planned.
Handsome has participated in Paris Fashion Week every year since 2019. The company operates a System flagship store in the Marais district of Paris and a permanent store at Galeries Lafayette. The System Paris permanent store that opened at Galeries Lafayette earlier this year has ranked in the top three for sales within the contemporary category.
"The pop-up opening coincides with London Fashion Week, which kicks off in mid-September, giving us a chance to expand our network with fashion industry figures in the UK," said Lee Jung-hyup, head of Handsome's global business strategy team. "We will continue to grow our global retail presence on the strength of differentiated design and craftsmanship."
Harrods, with a 177-year history, is the world's highest-grossing department store by single-location sales. It houses a wide range of global luxury labels as well as high-end brands drawing attention across the international fashion industry. The store is particularly known for its long history of supplying goods to the British royal family, earning it the nickname "the royal family's department store."
