Vision-sharing and discussion workshop for provincial education specialists
The Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Office of Education launched its second-half 2026 education specialists workshop Wednesday at the provincial education training institute.
Running through Thursday, the two-day event centers on sharing and mapping out ways to realize Superintendent Kang Sam-young's vision: "Education Where Everyone Shines."
The workshop is the first of its kind since Kang took office as the fifth directly elected superintendent in 2026, and was organized to strengthen the policy implementation capabilities of education specialists across the province.
A total of 394 education specialists are attending, including 22 newly appointed specialists who took up their posts Tuesday.
Wednesday's program features a special lecture by Superintendent Kang, a briefing on key policies aimed at building an education system that celebrates all students rather than only top achievers, presentations of best practices in academic and career education from other provincial education offices, and a lecture by Cho Byeong-yeong, a professor at Hanyang University, on reading, literacy and education in the AI era.
Thursday opens with a liberal arts lecture on the beauty of Korean art, followed by in-depth roundtable discussions on five Gangwon education policy areas divided into six working groups.
Aesthetics, organizers noted, offers one of the best frameworks for developing the creative sensibility needed to pursue the common good.
The workshop is expected to strengthen the province's policy network by deepening communication and mutual understanding among specialists, laying the groundwork for achieving the education vision.
"Realizing an education where everyone shines in Gangwon depends entirely on all Gangwon education specialists who stand at the forefront of this new beginning," Kang said. "I ask that you treat this workshop as an important opportunity to bring change and shared understanding to Gangwon's schools."
