Artifacts from Joseon era through modern times (up to the 1980s)
Uiwang city announced Wednesday that it is launching the "2026 Uiwang Local History Museum Artifact Donation Project" to preserve the region's history and culture and share it with residents.
The project aims to uncover and collect artifacts that reflect Uiwang's history and regional character, with the items to be used as exhibition and educational materials at the local history museum.
Eligible donations include artifacts from the Joseon era through the modern period up to the 1980s. The drive accepts not only items with historical or cultural ties to Uiwang but also artifacts from outside the region that are recognized as having historical value. Individuals, clan associations, corporations, organizations and institutions are all eligible to participate.
Donation applications will be accepted from September through December and can be submitted in person at the Uiwang Local History Museum, by registered mail to the second floor of the Central Library at 49 Golumul-gil, Uiwang, or by email.
Submitted artifacts will undergo a document review and deliberation by a donations screening committee before a final decision is made. Items with unclear provenance — including uncertain ownership or acquisition history — will be excluded. Accepted artifacts will be registered as part of the museum's permanent collection and used for future exhibitions and educational programs.
"Carefully preserved artifacts are an important cultural asset that carries Uiwang's history forward," Uiwang Mayor Kim Seong-je said. "We ask for the active interest and participation of our citizens in this artifact donation project so that we can preserve our region's history and culture together."
