'Integrity Live' program held at Ulsan headquarters
Gapjil, conflict-of-interest skits combined with legal lectures
HRD Korea held an integrity education session for its staff, using cultural performances including theater and sand art to raise ethical awareness among employees.
The Korea Human Resources Development Service held the "Integrity Live" program Tuesday at its headquarters in Jung-gu, Ulsan, with about 100 employees in attendance, including President Lee Byung-hoon and Standing Auditor Kwon Tong-il. The National Institute for Integrity and Anti-Corruption Education organized the session.
The program was designed to strengthen public officials' sense of integrity and ethics and to foster a fair and transparent organizational culture. It was structured to help employees naturally grasp the meaning of integrity by presenting situations they might encounter at work and in daily life through cultural content.
One highlight was a comedic skit titled "Gapjil Breaker," which dramatized real-life cases of gapjil and conflicts of interest. Participants were encouraged to think through how they would respond in each scenario.
A lecture by a specialist instructor covered the Anti-Graft Act, the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act and the employee code of conduct. The session also featured a sand art performance titled "Starry Night," which reimagined a prize-winning personal essay from an integrity content competition using sand and light.
"The public's trust in a public institution stems from the high integrity of each and every one of its employees," President Lee said. "All of our staff will work together to establish ourselves as a leading integrity institution that earns even greater trust from the public."
Standing Auditor Kwon said integrity "is not a choice but the top priority directly tied to the survival of our organization," adding that the agency would "block sources of corruption in advance through strict operation of the system alongside field-centered communication and coaching."
