Police have released the identity of Jeong Chang-seong, 31, a Chinese university lecturer detained on charges including murder and desecration of a corpse in connection with the killing and mutilation of a Chinese female exchange student who had attended his class.

The North Gyeongsang Provincial Police Agency posted Jeong's name, photo and age on its website Tuesday.

The information will remain on the agency's website through Oct. 1.
