"Let's experience Chinese culture firsthand."
The Gwangju China Center announced Monday that it held a traveling Chinese cultural experience program for all students at Damyang Girls' Middle School.
The program was organized under the theme of "a Chinese culture classroom where you learn through words, create with your hands, and connect over tea," with the aim of helping students deepen their understanding of and interest in Chinese culture through direct engagement with both traditional and everyday Chinese customs.
A total of 192 students from nine classes across grades 7 through 9 took part that day. The program included Chinese culture education as well as five hands-on activities: making traditional knots, making traditional fans, making Peking Opera masks, trying on traditional costumes, and experiencing traditional Chinese tea culture.
Center Director Jeong Jong-il said he hoped the program gave students "an easy and enjoyable way to understand Chinese culture through the process of seeing, making and experiencing it firsthand," adding that the center would continue to operate traveling cultural experience programs.
