One login unlocks Canva and other digital education tools; single account covers grades 1 through 12
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is rolling out an integrated single sign-on platform for cloud and AI services across all elementary, middle and high schools in the city, aiming to reduce administrative burdens on teachers while ensuring students have uninterrupted access to digital learning tools.
The office said Monday it will officially launch PENZ — a cloud and generative AI single sign-on (SSO) platform for staff and students — on Tuesday.
PENZ eliminates the need to create and manage separate accounts for each educational cloud service or AI tool. With a single secure login, users can access a range of digital education resources including Google, Microsoft, Adobe and Canva, reducing the hassle of juggling multiple accounts at school.
Students will need just one account from first grade through high school graduation — a span of 12 years. Previously, transferring schools or advancing to a higher level often meant receiving a new account and losing saved materials. Going forward, students will be able to carry their learning records, assignments and portfolios throughout their schooling.
Teachers and staff will also see a significant reduction in administrative work. Staff who transfer to a new school can keep using the same account, and the system's integration with the National Education Information System (NEIS) automates student account creation and grade advancement processing.
PENZ is built on NEIS and is available exclusively to staff and students affiliated with the Busan education office. Those who wish to use the platform can sign up through the Education Digital One Pass service starting Tuesday, then register and link their accounts at the PENZ website (penz.kr) to gain access to approved educational cloud and AI tools.
To help schools adopt the platform smoothly, the Busan Institute for Education Research and Information will hold four tailored briefing sessions for school administrators, information department teachers and account managers. The sessions will cover how to access the site, link accounts through the Education Digital One Pass, use the administrator mode for each school, and navigate available education technology services.
