Vice Minister Lee Ho-hyun meets acting US Energy Department assistant secretary

South Korea's Ministry of Climate, Environment and Energy said Vice Minister Lee Ho-hyun met Monday with Kurt Kokodrilis, acting assistant secretary of the US Department of Energy's Hydrocarbon and Geothermal Energy Office, at Dalgaebi in Jung-gu, Seoul, to discuss bilateral energy security cooperation.

The meeting was arranged through high-level energy policy consultations to allow the two countries to share policy on stable energy supply and power provision. The two sides also exchanged views on energy security issues including grid expansion to meet new electricity demand, ESS, international energy market trends and supply chain stability.

They also discussed key agenda items for this year's G20 energy ministers' meeting, which the United States is chairing, including energy security and responses to growing power demand.

"Stable energy supply and power provision are the core foundation supporting national economic and industrial competitiveness," Lee said. "I hope this meeting serves as an opportunity to jointly address uncertainty in international energy markets and further strengthen energy security cooperation between South Korea and the United States."
