Chatterjee to lead Visa's business strategy across Korea and Mongolia

New appointment aims to accelerate digital payment growth in both countries

Visa, the global payment technology company, announced Wednesday it has appointed Kunal Chatterjee as its new president for Korea and Mongolia.

Chatterjee will oversee Visa's business strategy across both countries, strengthening partnerships to drive growth in their digital payment markets.

Chatterjee brings nearly two decades of experience at Visa, having held roles spanning innovation, customer management, advisory and market management across the Asia-Pacific region. Most recently, he served as head of merchant solutions sales and value-added services for Asia-Pacific, where he led the commercialization and sales of payment solutions for merchants, acquirers and partners.

Before that, he served as head of innovation for Asia-Pacific, leading the development of next-generation payment solutions, and as president for Singapore and Brunei, where he was responsible for market strategy and business growth.

Arturo Planell, Visa's group president for Japan, Korea and Mongolia, said Chatterjee is a payments industry veteran with a proven track record across business development, products and advisory. "We expect him to further strengthen partnerships in the Korea and Mongolia markets and drive continued growth in digital commerce," Planell said.

Chatterjee holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Delhi in India and an MBA from the University of Newcastle in the United Kingdom.

Visa is a global leader in digital payments, processing transactions between consumers, merchants, financial institutions and government entities in more than 200 countries.
