Offerings range from budget-friendly Korean beef sets to rare vintages
Hotels also package their own experiences — scents, bedding and dining vouchers
With Chuseok approaching, major hotels are rolling out gift sets spanning a wide range of prices — from budget Korean beef packages starting around 90,000 won ($65) to a rare wine set priced at 300 million won ($218,000). Fully prepared dishes by hotel chefs, lifestyle goods such as fragrances and bedding, and hotel stay and dining vouchers are also among the offerings.
Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas will sell 71 types of Chuseok gift sets from Tuesday through Sept. 27, according to industry sources. Wine is a particular highlight: the hotel is offering a limited-edition 2017 Romanée-Conti set — just one available — priced at 300 million won. Rare cult wines from California's Napa Valley, including Screaming Eagle, are also on the lineup.
The hotel has also prepared fully cooked meal sets that can be enjoyed at home. Options include a braised galbi and arongsatae (beef shank) combination, a Buddha Jumps Over the Wall dish prepared using the recipe of Chinese restaurant Weilou, and a charcuterie set featuring German sausages, smoked salmon and Spanish jamón.
Four Seasons Hotel Seoul has curated premium beef sets using hand-selected Korean cattle from Andong in North Gyeongsang Province, priced between 220,000 and 550,000 won. Meat gift sets include "Lotte Hotel Prime LA Galbi," seasoned with a chef's signature marinade, and a premium Hoengseong Korean beef set.
Seoul Dragon City is offering a Korean beef set that pairs 1++ grade striploin and tenderloin steaks with truffle salt, truffle oil and the hotel's own wine. Its seafood set features dried yellow croaker, marinated crab and abalone, and Jeju-caught tilefish and beltfish.
Eland Park's Kensington Hotel & Resort has introduced a "Korean Beef Value Set" priced in the 90,000 won range, maintaining existing quality while lowering the price for budget-conscious shoppers.
Hotels have also expanded their lifestyle product lineups to let guests recreate the hotel experience at home. Lotte Hotel & Resort has grown its premium in-room bath amenity range from two to six products. Sales of those premium bath amenities jumped 80 percent in the second quarter of this year compared with the previous quarter.
InterContinental Parnas is offering diffusers, candles and room sprays that capture the distinct atmosphere of each of its hotels through scent. Towels, goose-down bedding and other products designed to bring the comfort of a hotel room into everyday life are also available.
Seoul Dragon City has unveiled a travel goods set built around its brand character "Baby Draco," comprising a suitcase, a bag, a neck pillow and eye mask, and travel pouches.
