The city of Busan and the Busan Tourism Organization hosted the production crew of Taiwan's popular travel variety show "Super Taste" (Shishanwanjia) for a six-day culinary content fam tour from Aug. 16 to 21, the organizations announced Tuesday.
"Super Taste" is a flagship travel variety program on Taiwan's TVBS network, introducing travel destinations and local cuisines from around the world to wide acclaim. Related videos posted on YouTube and social media regularly exceed 100,000 views per episode, giving the show considerable online reach.
The fam tour was organized to promote Busan's culinary offerings to Chinese-speaking audiences — particularly Taiwanese tourists — and to showcase new tourism content centered on the everyday lives and local culture of Busan residents.
Bujeon Market, one of Busan's most representative traditional markets, received particular focus. The crew explored the market — largely unfamiliar to Taiwanese visitors — documenting the foods, ingredients and everyday goods that locals frequent, capturing an authentic slice of daily life in Busan.
Beyond culinary content, the crew filmed major attractions including Yongdusan Park, Lotte World Adventure Busan and the Songdo maritime cable car. Wellness and healing experiences — including the Spa Haesoorang facility — as well as yacht tours offering close-up views of the Busan coastline were also featured.
Footage from the Busan fam tour is scheduled to air on TVBS cable and internet broadcasts in mid-September.
Meanwhile, a phenomenon dubbed "Busan sickness" has been gaining traction among Taiwanese travelers — a longing for Busan's food, sea and relaxed atmosphere that draws visitors back to the city even after returning home. In response, the Busan Tourism Organization plans to move beyond well-known tourist sites and develop content that lets visitors experience the everyday rhythms and local culture of Busan residents.
"Food is at the heart of why Taiwanese tourists keep coming back to Busan," a Busan Tourism Organization official said. "We will pursue a range of marketing and promotional initiatives to expand local everyday dining into tourism content, positioning Busan as a world-class culinary destination."
