Nine people were injured after a light truck overturned on a road near a beach in Yangyang-gun, Gangwon Province, seriously hurting a passenger in her 20s who was riding in the cargo bed.

According to police, fire authorities and Yonhap, a Labo truck driven by a man in his 60s identified as A flipped over at around 9:49 p.m. Saturday near Bukbunri Beach in Hyeonnam-myeon, Yangyang-gun.

A woman in her 20s identified as B, who was riding in the cargo bed, sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital.

The driver and seven other passengers in their 20s, also in the cargo bed, suffered minor injuries; three were taken to a hospital.

Police plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident and whether any road traffic laws were violated.
