Rain that began Thursday will continue through the morning Saturday, with showers expected to break out across the country throughout the day.

Forecast rainfall totals for Friday and Saturday combined are 5 to 40 millimeters for Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi Province, and 5 to 40 millimeters for inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province, with about 5 millimeters expected along the Gangwon coast. Totals of 5 to 60 millimeters are forecast for inland areas of Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong Province and North Chungcheong Province, inland areas of Gwangju, South Jeolla Province and North Jeolla Province, inland areas of Daegu, North Gyeongsang Province, Ulsan and South Gyeongsang Province, and Jeju Island.

Showers will begin in the morning in South Jeolla Province, the western inland areas of South Gyeongsang Province and Jeju Island, then spread to central regions and the rest of the south from midday.

Most showers will taper off by late afternoon in the south and by early evening in central regions. Gusty winds, thunder and lightning are expected in some areas while the rain falls, and the public is advised to take precautions against weather-related accidents.

The heat will also continue.

Heat advisories are in effect mainly across the Chungcheong region, southern regions and Jeju Island, with the apparent temperature expected to reach around 33 degrees Celsius across most of the country. In parts of the Jeolla region, South Gyeongsang Province and Jeju Island, the apparent temperature could climb to around 35 degrees Celsius, and residents are urged to guard against heat-related illness.

Morning lows are forecast between 21 and 26 degrees Celsius, with afternoon highs ranging from 28 to 34 degrees Celsius.

Waves in coastal waters are expected to reach 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the East Sea and South Sea, and 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the West Sea.

Offshore wave heights are forecast at 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the East Sea, 0.5 to 3.0 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5 to 2.5 meters in the South Sea.
